The Cable Car Tour is one of the easiest and most enjoyable day experiences in Kathmandu. It’s designed for travelers who want stunning views without trekking or long drives. The ride takes you to Chandragiri Hill (2,551m), a popular viewpoint known for its mountain panoramas, calm atmosphere, and beautiful temple.

This tour is perfect if you want something simple, relaxing, and fun especially if you’re traveling with young kids, older family members, or if you’re short on time. As your cable car rises above the thick green forest, you’ll slowly see the whole Kathmandu Valley open up below you. At the top, you can walk around the viewpoint, enjoy the temple visit, take photos, or just sit and feel the fresh air.

Itinerary

Your Cable Car Tour begins with a comfortable hotel pickup at around 8:00 AM, where our guide greets you and takes you on a short drive to the Chandragiri Cable Car Base Station in Thankot. Once you arrive, you’ll notice the cabins moving up the hillside, and while you take in the surroundings, your guide will handle all the ticketing and arrangements. After everything is set, you board your cable car cabin around 9:00 AM and enjoy a peaceful 9–12 minute ride above the lush green forest, watching Kathmandu Valley slowly open up beneath you. When you reach the hilltop at about 9:30 AM, you’ll have plenty of time to explore the viewpoint, walk around the peaceful paths, visit the Baleshwar Mahadev Temple, and enjoy the wide Himalayan panorama from the view tower. If you like, you can also relax with tea or lunch at one of the restaurants on the hilltop around noon. After taking photos and enjoying the fresh air, you ride the cable car back down at around 1:30 PM and then continue your drive back to your hotel, reaching around 2:00 PM ending your day with calm memories and beautiful views from your Cable Car Tour.
