Overview

The Mt. Everest Base Camp Trekking – 17 Days is the most iconic adventure in the Himalayas, guiding you through the heart of the Khumbu region to the foot of the world’s tallest peak. This legendary trek offers much more than mountain views—it’s a complete cultural and natural immersion into the life of the Sherpas, ancient monasteries, glacial valleys, and rugged high-altitude terrain.

The trail goes along the Dudh Koshi River, through pine woods and traditional villages, and up to the world of Everest. It starts with an exciting mountain flight to Lukla. You will visit Namche Bazaar, which is the busy Sherpa centre, and then climb to Tengboche, which is peaceful and has the biggest monastery in the area. You’ll go through Dingboche and Lobuche on your way up until you reach Everest Base Camp (5,364m), the start of your climbing dreams. The next day, at sunrise, climb to the top of Kala Patthar (5,545m) for the best and closest views of Everest and the other giants in the area.

With multiple acclimatization days built in for your safety, this 17-day package is designed for adventurers with good fitness and a strong will to walk in the footsteps of legends.

Itinerary

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, our team will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel in Thamel, the vibrant heart of Kathmandu. Take time to rest, recover from jet lag, or explore nearby temples and shops. In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner with a short trek briefing.

Spend your day exploring UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), Pashupatinath, and the Boudhanath Stupa. This guided city tour provides insight into Nepal’s deep spiritual culture. Later, meet your trek leader and double-check your gear.

Take an early scenic flight to Lukla, landing on one of the world’s most thrilling airstrips. Begin your trek with a gradual descent through pine forests and Sherpa villages, reaching Phakding by afternoon. Overnight in a teahouse near the Dudh Koshi River.

Cross several suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi and enter Sagarmatha National Park. The trail ascends steeply through pine forests toward Namche Bazaar, the bustling Sherpa capital. You’ll catch your first glimpse of Mt. Everest along the way.

A perfect place and right altitude for rest daTo help your body adjust to the altitude, we spend a rest day in Namche. Hike up to the Everest View Hotel (3,880m) for stunning views of Everest, Ama Dablam, and Lhotse. Visit the Sherpa Museum or enjoy coffee with a view.

Includes series of peaks, visit the park museum nearby, an interesting place to get information of the Khumbu areas.For energetic people, enjoy few hours steep climb up to Everest View Hotel for glorious view of Mt. Everest. The first deluxe and luxury hotel of Khumbu and Everest region at 3,880 m high. Afternoon relax or take a stroll around the streets of Namche Bazaar lined with shops and many nice restaurants.

The trail ascends gently through rhododendron forests with beautiful views of Thamserku and Kangtega. After lunch at Phunki Tenga, we climb to Tengboche, home to the region’s most famous monastery. Don’t miss the evening prayers in the monastery with Everest in the background.

Descend through forests to Debuche and cross the Imja Khola. Ascend past Pangboche village and its ancient monastery before reaching the windswept valley of Dingboche, with stunning views of Island Peak and Ama Dablam.

We hike to Nangkartshang Hill (5,083m), a high ridge above Dingboche, for breathtaking views of Makalu, Lhotse, and the surrounding peaks. This gradual ascent helps your body prepare for the higher altitudes ahead.

Follow a gentle trail until Thukla, then climb the steep moraine ridge where memorials to fallen climbers stand. Continue to Lobuche, a small settlement tucked beneath the towering peaks of Nuptse and Lobuche East.

Today is the highlight! Trek alongside the Khumbu Glacier to reach Gorak Shep. After a quick break, continue to Everest Base Camp—standing where climbers begin their summit attempts. After enjoying this epic spot, return to Gorak Shep for the night.

Climb early to Kala Patthar for the most iconic sunrise view of Mt. Everest and surrounding peaks. Afterward, descend back to Gorak Shep and continue down to the windswept valley of Pheriche for a warm rest.

Before you get to Namche Bazaar, go back the way you came through Pangboche and Tengboche, going through beautiful woods and over ridges. Enjoy the pleasures of being lower on the mountain and a fun night with other trekkers.

Go all the way down to Lukla, going through Monjo and Phakding on the way. Honour your amazing journey with your team in Lukla, the start of the trip.

Fly to Kathmandu in the morning and enjoy the view. If you check into a hotel, the rest of the day is yours to do as you please. You can shop, relax or celebrate your trip with a traditional meal.

A full day to do whatever you want. You can go to Bhaktapur, Patan, or buy gifts. spa or massage as an extra to relax those tired muscles.

An extra day in case of flight delays from Lukla. If unused, it can be spent exploring more of the Kathmandu Valley.

We’ll transfer you to the airport for your onward journey, with memories of the Himalayas to last a lifetime.

Useful Information

Best Time to Trek

The ideal trekking seasons are Spring (March–May) and Autumn (September–November), offering stable weather, clear skies, and the best mountain views. Winter (Dec–Feb) is colder but less crowded, while Monsoon (June–August) brings rain and cloud cover.

Acclimatization & Altitude

You’ll reach a maximum elevation of 5,545m at Kala Patthar. The itinerary includes two acclimatization days—in Namche and Dingboche—to help your body adjust to the altitude. Always stay hydrated and listen to your guide.

How Hard Is Trek?

It takes 5–7 hours of walking every day on this moderate to difficult trip. You don’t need to know how to do technical climbs, but you do need to be physically and mentally ready.

Places to stay and food

The rooms in the tea houses where you’ll stay are simple but cosy. Nepali foods like dal bhat, Tibetan bread, pasta, soup, and more are served. Some lodges may offer Wi-Fi and hot baths for an extra fee.

Packing Essentials

Bring layered clothing, down jacket, sleeping bag (-10°C), trekking poles, water purification tablets, sunscreen, and good hiking boots. A full packing list will be provided after booking.

Guide and Porter Support

You’ll be accompanied by an experienced, licensed trekking guide and helpful porters (one porter for every two trekkers). They ensure your safety and comfort throughout the journey.

Connectivity

Mobile networks (mainly Ncell and NTC) are available in most villages. Wi-Fi is accessible in some tea houses for a small fee.

Emergency Preparedness

In case of altitude sickness or emergencies, helicopter evacuation is available (insurance required). Always carry travel insurance that covers high-altitude trekking.

Yes, but our plan includes days of slowly climbing and getting used to the altitude to lower the risk. Every day, our guide will check on your health.

Of course. All of our teahouses have vegetarian options, and if you let us know ahead of time, we can meet most dietary needs.

We often have delays because of bad weather. There is a "buffer day" in the plan. If there are long delays, we can help you find other options, such as helicopter trips (for an extra fee).

It is very safe. We've led a lot of solo female walkers who have given us great feedback. If you want, we can also provide female guides.
