Overview

The Gosainkund Trekking is one of Nepal’s most rewarding short treks, blending natural beauty with spiritual significance. This 10-day Langtang Valley and Gosainkund Trek takes you into the heart of the Langtang National Park, where snow-capped peaks, green forests, and charming villages await.

We begin our adventure with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, the gateway to Langtang. From there, the trail climbs through bamboo forests and traditional Tamang villages before reaching Kyanjin Gompa (3,870m), the cultural and spiritual heart of Langtang. Here, trekkers can visit monasteries and witness breathtaking views of Langtang Lirung and surrounding peaks.

After exploring Langtang Valley, the journey continues to the sacred lakes of Gosainkund (4,380m). This high-altitude pilgrimage site is especially important during the Janai Purnima festival, when thousands of Hindu and Buddhist devotees gather to bathe in its holy waters. The turquoise lakes surrounded by snowy peaks create an atmosphere of peace and wonder.

People who want to trek but don’t want to do a longer trip like Everest or Annapurna can take the Gosainkund route instead. It has a mix of culture, mountain scenery, and spiritual experiences. With well-run tea houses along the way, you can enjoy warm meals, comfortable lodging, and real Himalayan kindness while you’re trekking.

Itinerary

Welcome to Nepal! Our team will meet you at Tribhuvan International Airport and transfer you to your hotel. After check-in, you’ll receive a briefing about the Gosainkund Trekking itinerary. In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner with authentic Nepali food. Overnight stay in Kathmandu, Dinner included.

Today we leave Kathmandu and drive through winding mountain roads, past terraced fields, and scenic hillsides. After about 7 hours, we reach Syabrubesi, a small village at the edge of Langtang National Park. This is the starting point of our trek. Overnight at a tea house in Syabrubesi, Dinner included.

Our trek begins! We follow the Langtang Khola (river), passing through forests of rhododendron and bamboo, often spotting langur monkeys and red pandas. The trail gradually ascends to Lama Hotel, a peaceful resting point surrounded by greenery. Overnight at a tea house, Dinner included.

We continue uphill with stunning views of Langtang Lirung. The trail passes through Ghodatabela and alpine meadows where yaks graze. Eventually, we reach Langtang Village, a traditional Tamang settlement. This village was rebuilt after the 2015 earthquake and now offers a beautiful glimpse of Himalayan culture. Overnight at a tea house, Dinner included.

A short but scenic walk brings us to Kyanjin Gompa, the spiritual center of the valley. You can visit the ancient monastery, cheese factory, and enjoy panoramic views of snow-capped peaks. If energy allows, you can take a side hike to Kyanjin Ri (4,773m) for an unforgettable sunset view. Overnight at a tea house, Dinner included.

Today is reserved for exploration and acclimatization. Options include hiking to Tserko Ri (5,000m) for 360-degree Himalayan views or exploring the nearby glaciers. This day helps you adapt to higher altitudes before we head toward Gosainkund. Overnight at a tea house, Dinner included.

We retrace our steps back down the valley and then take a different trail toward Thulo Syabru, a charming village with a mix of Tamang and Sherpa culture. From here, we get clear views of Ganesh Himal and Langtang peaks. Overnight at a tea house, Dinner included.

This is one of the most exciting days of our trek! The trail climbs steeply through Lauribinayak before finally reaching the sacred lake of Gosainkund. Surrounded by snowy peaks, this holy lake is believed to have been created by Lord Shiva. Pilgrims visit here to bathe in the waters, believing it cleanses sins and brings blessings. Overnight at a tea house near Gosainkund Lake, Dinner included.

We descend from Gosainkund, passing through forests and small villages, until we reach Dhunche, the district headquarters of Rasuwa. From here, we take a scenic drive back to Kathmandu. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu, Farewell Dinner included.

Your adventure comes to an end. We will drop you at the airport for your international flight, or you may choose to extend your stay in Nepal with another trek or tour.
